Principal’s Secretary

We are seeking to appoint a Principal’s Secretary to commence duties in May/June. The normal hours of work will be 8.30-4.30 or 9.00-5.00. A salary of around £27,000-£30,000 will be offered in line with qualifications and experience. A high standard of typing, word processing and database skills will be required. A Summary of Duties is shown below. Benefits include pension after one year’s service, free meals while on duty and 28 days paid holiday per year (plus bank holidays) which must include the 3-day break between Christmas and New Year. All other days must be taken at the discretion of the College.


The College

Cambridge Tutors College is a leading international sixth form college, founded in Warlingham, Surrey in 1958 and which now occupies a pleasant park side location in South Croydon. Approximately 85% of the 260 students come from overseas countries including China, Latvia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore and Vietnam. There are around 60 members of staff including 3 secretaries.

Summary of Duties

These will include:

• Maintaining Principal’s diary
• Greeting parents/ visitors and showing them around the College
• Providing promotional support for overseas exhibitions and visits undertaken by the Principal
• Supporting the Senior Management Team (Principal, Vice Principal and Bursar)
• Undertaking administrative tasks connected to the recruitment and enrolment of new students and the recruitment of new members of staff
• Liaising with the College’s overseas agents, senior overseas adviser and International Development Officer
• Assisting in the planning of College events (e.g. Awards Ceremony, Parents Evening, Open Day)
• Collating and sending of student reports
• Ordering of stationery
• Arranging appointments for students with Principal and Vice Principal
• Taking and producing the minutes for Staff Meetings
• Planning and updating of college documentation
• Distributing NUS cards to students
• Attending occasional evening functions (e.g. Parents Evening)

Other
• Undertaking any reasonable task not already specified which may, from time to time, be required
